Yoga Therapy for Cancer Patients
Join us as we welcome JJ Gormley-Etchells to our studio for this special weekend of training. Yoga teachers, please consider attending the workshop January 11-12th. Most of us know someone who is currently going through treatment, or has completed cancer treatment. Learn how yoga therapy can assist them.
Yoga has been proven to help in the treatment of cancer. How? Yoga helps reduce stress and helps restore the immune system.
Dealing with cancer is likely one of the most stressful diseases out there. The ups and downs of cancer can wreak havoc on us in many ways: physically, energetically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. Because yoga looks at the body in this multi-dimensional, holistic way, yoga can be quite effective at restoring us in these many layers of our being.
In this workshop, JJ will discuss the multi-dimensional model that yoga often uses when treating someone therapeutically. This model is called the Pancha Maya Model (aka Pancha Maya Kosha.) There are many other models that the yoga therapist also draws upon and JJ will introduce a few other models this weekend (Pancha Vayu Model, Chakra Model, Dosha Model and Bhuta Model)
JJ Gormley-Etchells has been a student of yoga since 1979 and a teacher since 1989. She began teaching teachers and using yoga therapeutically in 1994.
